Saturday, August 17th, 9:00 AM EDT

This is a call to action for adventure seekers and philanthropists to unite against poverty in Washtenaw County. Whether overcoming a fear of heights or seeking an unforgettable experience, participants can make a tangible difference in the lives of others.

Join us as we descend Hill Hall at EMU! Together, let’s embody resilience, empowerment, and community, showing that by taking a leap, we can make a significant impact in the fight against poverty.

But hold on, you can’t just walk up the building and start rappelling. We’ve got a challenge for you! To secure a spot on this gravity-defying adventure, you’ll need to showcase your fundraising prowess and raise $1,000. Every dollar you raise goes towards supporting Friends In Deed.

Since 1983, Friends In Deed (FID) has been a beacon of hope in Ypsilanti, Michigan, supporting residents facing economic hardship, especially in the 48197-98 zip codes of Washtenaw County. Committed to our mission of “Helping people in need and building community to end poverty,” FID provides essential support and fosters stability through various services, including financial assistance for utilities, medical bills, and eviction prevention, as well as transportation aid and basic furniture provisions. Our principal program, Circles, empowers participants through education, goal setting, and community-building. In 2020, FID launched Over The Edge (OTE), a thrilling initiative revolutionizing our approach to fundraising. Originating from a Canadian company specializing in rappelling experiences, OTE offers individuals the chance to contribute to their community by rappelling down skyscrapers. With numerous successful events nationwide, OTE symbolizes empowerment and community engagement.
