The goal of the campaign is to increase awareness of the convenient options available to Michigan voters:
- Vote absentee, or
- at an early voting site, or
- on Election Day.

Poll workers still needed
Election inspectors, i.e. poll workers, are hired, paid, and trained local government workers who assist with running local elections in compliance with Michigan Election Law.
Each county, city, and township in Michigan hires and pays election inspectors for the early voting period and on Election Day.

Misinformation Roundup
Don’t feed the noise – help set the record straight!
Never received your absentee ballot? Did you make a mistake when filling it out? Don’t worry – you can still vote!
If you make a mistake on your absentee ballot, or you requested one but it never arrived in the mail, you have options.
You can call your local clerk’s office and let them know you need to spoil your ballot. If there is enough time before the election, a new absentee ballot may be mailed to you. If there isn’t enough time before Election Day, you can then vote during Early Voting or on Election Day at the polls. Voters can only cast one ballot in each election.
Locate your clerk’s office at Michigan.gov/vote.
You can also share this Voting Absentee Do’s and Don’t’s information sheet on your webpage or social media. |

Learn more about drop boxes
Voters can return a completed and signed absentee ballot to one of their clerk’s secure drop boxes located in their city or township.
Drop boxes look similar to postal boxes but are specifically designed to securely store absentee ballots.
Local clerks and their staff regularly collect absentee ballots from drop boxes and securely transfer them to the clerk’s office where they are stored until processing begins. |
The Michigan Department of State presents the September 30 edition of the Democracy Ambassador Newsletter, containing nonpartisan information to help you rise above the noise and know the facts about Michigan elections.
