If Stones Could Talk: Living History Cemetery Tour
October 5, 4 – 8 pm at Oakwood Cemetery, Northville
Northville, MI — On Saturday, October 5 from 4 pm – 8 pm, the Northville Art House will host the third annual If Stones Could Talk: Living History Cemetery Tour at the Oakwood Cemetery, located next to Art House at 215 W. Cady St. in Northville.
Starting at the Art House, dedicated tour guides escort visitors beyond the iron gates as actors share the storied pasts of pioneers, entrepreneurs, and veterans residing in the first cemetery in Northville. Tours leave every 15 minutes, last approximately 30 minutes, and are designed to be informative. The first tour begins at 4pm and the last tour at 7:30 pm. Visitors are asked to wear comfortable walking shoes as the ground is uneven and to be mindful of the delicate gravestones, some of which are over 150 years old. Soft lighting will help guide visitors and every precaution is taken to be respectful the final resting places of Northville residents.
“This year, visitors will hear the fascinating stories of several figures and families,” says Ryan Kaltenbach, Creative Director at Northville Arts House. “Among them, Ursula and William Ambler, who operated the Ambler House Hotel, located where MainCentre Apartments now stand, that served as a shelter for those traveling along the Underground Railroad.”
