As part of our Michigan Jazz Festival Virtual Education Series, we are presenting renowned bassist Marion Hayden on Saturday, April 4th via Zoom from 3:30 pm to 5 pm to present “On Playing Jazz Bass in Detroit”. Marion Hayden is a Detroit jazz bassist, jazz icon and educator. She will share with the audience her perspective on how and what to practice, who to listen to, and how to make connections in the jazz music community. She will be giving personal insights into the lessons she has learned during her formative years, as well as her seasoned years being one of the most in-demand jazz bassists in Detroit and abroad. There will be time for Q & A.
The host is Russ Miller, Emeritus Associate Professor of Jazz Studies at Wayne State University.
