The Shelter Association of Washtenaw County is thrilled to announce its highly anticipated annual fundraising event, Almost Home, taking place on Monday, June 24th at the beautiful Barton Hills Country Club in Ann Arbor. This event brings together community stakeholders and supporters to raise funds and awareness for the vital programs and services being offered to our neighbors experiencing homelessness.
We are delighted to announce this year’s keynote speaker, Darren McCarty, former Detroit Red Wings player and four time Stanley Cup champion. Mr. McCarty has dealt with personal
challenges, including overcoming alcoholism, and he now serves as an advocate for recovery and mental health awareness. His presence at Almost Home underscores our commitment to
addressing issues relevant to our shelter community.
In addition to Mr. McCarty, we are honored to welcome Cazzi Avery, a former client of our
shelter, as a guest speaker. Cazzi
will share his inspiring journey, underscoring the vital role the
shelter played in his transition from homelessness to stable housing.
Join us for a memorable day of golf and/or an entertaining dinner as well as many opportunities
to network. Enjoy the 9 hole scramble on the green of Barton Hills starting at 2:30 p.m., or meet
us for fine dining and delightful conversation at our program
reception at 5:30 p.m. Don’t miss
our special Wine Pull where you have the chance to discover a selection of fine wines, take part in the Ante
Up Raffle, for a chance to win $2,600, and explore our silent auction, featuring a
variety of unique items and i
nternational travel adventure offerings.
By participating in these engaging activities, you not only have a great time but also contribute
to the important work of the Shelter Association of Washtenaw County to battle homelessness,
health disparities and mental illness.
