Salem Area Historical Society

The Salem Area Historical Society will host “The American Founding Documents” exhibit made possible by an America250MI History Grant in the Salem Township Hall on June 6th (Flag Day Parade Day) at 6 pm.  This exhibit includes the Declaration of Independence, the Northwest Ordinances, the Federalist Papers, the U.S. Constitution, and the Bill of Rights.  All are Welcome to this Free Exhibit.

SAHS will hold an America 250 Celebration on Saturday, June 27th, at the Jarvis Stone School Historic District (7991 N. Territorial Rd. at Curtis Rd.) starting at 3 pm.   Come and celebrate the Semiquincentennial of America!  The event starts with our national anthem and a partial reading of the Declaration of Independence.

  • Plymouth Fife and Drum Corps will perform.
  • See “The American Founding Documents” exhibit made possible by an America250MI History Grant.  This exhibit includes the Declaration of Independence, the Northwest Ordinances, the Federalist Papers, the U.S. Constitution, and the Bill of Rights.
  • See “The Farming History of Salem” exhibit.
  • There will be a talk on “Patriots: Everyday Citizens and the Founding of America.”
  • Interact with Colonial Period Characters such as Paul Revere, Martha Washington and Ben Franklin, who will give a talk.
  • The Dodworth Saxhorn Band will be in concert at 6: 00 pm.
  • There will be a performance by Bluesdad with Doug Larsen.
  • There will be Food Trucks available.
