The Salvation Army is Distributing 870 backpacks to students in Washtenaw County.

The Salvation Army, in partnership with Toyota, is helping ensure students in our community are prepared for a successful school year by providing backpacks filled with essential school supplies to families in need.

As part of a nationwide initiative, Toyota is providing a one-time grant of $651,000, and collecting donations at select manufacturing plants and dealers. The Salvation Army is distributing 16,900 backpacks to students across the U.S. including 870 right here in Washtenaw County.

Pick up the backpacks at 100 Arbana Drive in Ann Arbor on August 2nd Between 10am and 12pm. This Distribution is for students enrolled in Washtenaw County School Districts. Must have proof of enrollment. For more information call 734-668-8353.

“Every child deserves to start school feeling prepared and confident,” said Major Brian Goodwill, Corps Officer of the Salvation Army Washtenaw Corps. “Thanks to this partnership with Toyota, we’re helping families in our area equip their children for a strong start to the school year.”
