CHEF CHRIS

Chef Chris is known throughout the Ann Arbor/Detroit area and far beyond for being the high octane front man of his award winning Blues Band- Chef Chris & his Nairobi Trio. Chef Chris is an actual foodie when he’s not herking and jerking about the stage with beefy sophistication, and screaming the blues. He’s a big man with a scary goatee, wears really nice clothes, and is a master showman in the truest sense. The Nairobi Trio formed back in the “90’s to explore the boundaries of blues. punk, and country. In 2002 Chef Chris and his Nairobi trio won the prestigious International Blues Challenge (IBC) The IBC is a world wide battle of the blues bands hosted by The Blues Foundation and is held in the Blues Clubs along Beale Street in Memphis Tennessee. As result of winning the IBC the band was able to travel and play some of our nations top blues clubs and festivals including The WC Handy Awards where they shared the stage with B.B King, Ike Turner, Dr. John and many more.

Chef Chris has also built a solid reputation throughout the area as a top notch BBQ Pit-master. He recently retired from the restaurant business after a 39 year career that started at Jamies on 7 in Livonia Michigan. His most recent endeavor- Chef Chris’ Boogie Woogie BBQ started as a food truck concept back in 2006 and by 2008 BWBBQ graduated to a brick and mortar location situated in Pinckney, Michigan. Boogie Woogie BBQ specialized in authentic southern style BBQ and Cajun cuisine, and became a must have for graduation parties and corporate events in the area. The BWBBQ regularly received glowing reviews on social media as well  traditional media, with the brisket being a customer favorite. Other career highlights include a stint in Walt Disney world of Florida where Chef Chris was a part of a culinary team that regularly catered to celebrities such as Bob Hop, Georgia Burns, Bill Murray, and many more.
