Yankee Air Museum’s Annual Free Halloween Party

CIA Recalls Spooks—Plans Intelligence Gathering
Spooktacular!
Yankee Air Museum’s Annual Free Halloween Party
October 15, 2018— In an unprecedented move, Yankee Air Museum’s Curator In Aviation (CIA) today announced a major intelligence gathering involving myriad spooks of all ages. “One of my favorite duties as CIA is to deal with spooks,” said Julie Osborne. “I used to have some rational fear of spooks, but I learned that science can dispel those fears. The more knowledge, the better. Around here, we call it the ‘Halloween Spooktacular!’”

The Yankee Air Museum, Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum and the Leslie Science & Nature Center partnership called “Unity in Learning” will be providing cool activities designed to engage kids and stimulate their imaginations. The third annual Halloween Spooktacular will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Admission is free and everyone is welcome. Yankee Air Museum is located at 47884 ‘D’ Street, Belleville, Michigan 48111.

“Halloween Spooktacular is a favorite event among Museum staff and volunteers. They really get into decorating the aircraft and displays. Our visitors love it too and last year, nearly 1000 kids of all ages visited throughout the day,” said Kevin Walsh, Yankee Air Museum Executive Director. “This year, we’re calling in air and ground support to make the Spooktacular bigger and even better.”

Walsh said the air support is being provided by Dave’s Helicopter Service which will airlift treats behind Museum lines and drop candy from the sky for all the kids to gather. Ground support is being provided with a World War Two era U.S. Army half-track. Free rides will be given on this armored personnel carrier.

“We look forward to seeing all of the creative costumes people wear, and the kids look forward to the fun scientific experiments our not-so-mad scientists conjure up,” said Osborne. “We know how to make ghosts appear and we have other spooky secrets we’re willing to share.”

Osborne said the best of science, nature and aviation centered institutions are combined in Unity in Learning in ways that young people can understand, appreciate and apply. She says

kids can bust the barriers to understanding abstract ideas when they can have meaningful experiences that stimulate their senses and allow them to freely interact.

“We like to put our imaginations to work in other ways and the Spooktacular features all of the fun things kids love about Halloween!” exclaimed Osborne. “We’ll have cool activities, live animals, scientific experiments, trick or treating and more! It’s fun for everyone.”

The Yankee Air Museum is inviting everyone to its free Halloween Spooktacular on Saturday, October 27, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  The Museum is located on the grounds of historic Willow Run Airport, at 47884 ‘D’ Street, Belleville Michigan. For more information, call 734-483-4030.
