Yankee Air Museum is paying tribute to the education community with complimentary tickets to the Thunder Over Michigan Air Show
Helping Educators End the School Year on a High Note
Yankee Air Museum is paying tribute to the education community with complimentary tickets to the Thunder Over Michigan Air Show, August 3 and 4, 2019. Faculty, staff, and administrators at all levels, kindergarten through college are invited to come to the Museum, on Saturday, June 8, 2019 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM to receive two air show tickets (valued at $90.00). The tickets will be available in the Museum Gift Shop on this day and at this time only. No purchase is necessary; the Museum only asks people to present evidence of their employment in education. The Gift Shop is located immediately inside the public entrance at 47884 D Street, Belleville, MI.
“Educators play a key role in ensuring future generations of young people understand and appreciate the role of aviation in preserving our freedom,” said Kevin Walsh, Executive Director of Yankee Air Museum. “It’s only fitting that we invite everyone working in education to be our guests at this great air show to experience the sights, sounds and smells of historic aircraft.”
Walsh said there will be scores of airplanes, from biplanes to the most modern jets, on display and in aerobatic demonstrations at Thunder Over Michigan. He says Yankee Air Museum is happy to offer this gesture of appreciation and hopes many men and women that teach or support teaching will accept the invitation.
Thunder Over Michigan has been one of the leading air shows in the country since 2003. The 2019 show has a fantastic line up, including a record gathering of F-4U Corsairs (a type of fighter aircraft used extensively in WWII and the Korean War), the US Air Force F-16 Viper Demonstration Team, aerial demonstration pilot Michael Goulian, as well as many aircraft on static display. And of course, there are plenty of food and drink vendors and attractions for the kids–a fun time for all.
Yankee Air Museum will also recognize other key, and often unsung heroes of the American workforce, in future Thunder Over Michigan Air Show ticket gifts. Walsh said health care workers and first responders are in line to receive the complimentary tickets. “It’s our way of saying ‘thank you’ to the people who offer so much for our country,” he concluded.
The same thank you packages – two air show tickets – will be provided to health care workers on July 6 and first responders on July 13. More information will be available over the next few weeks. The general admission tickets are good for one day, either August 3 or 4, of the air show.
Thunder Over Michigan will be held at Willow Run Airport, August 3 and 4, 2019. Gates open at 9:00 AM. For directions, please see: http://yankeeairmuseum.org/airshow/directions/
