To begin its 73rd season, UMGASS presents “The Yeomen of the Guard, or the Merryman and His Maid,” the story of the heroic Colonel Fairfax, under sentence of death on questionable grounds, whose heirs will lose their inheritance if he dies unmarried. The night before his scheduled execution the Colonel arranges to marry the strolling player Elsie Maynard for the price of 100 crowns, much to the chagrin of her traveling partner and presumed fiancé, the jester Jack Point. Will the Colonel, the marriage, and the Jester all survive until the final curtain? David Andrews directs a cast featuring Austin DuBois, Megan Laine-Yacobozzi, and Makoto Takata, with music direction by Ezra Donner.
