The Northville Art House presents the second exhibition in its Hometown Artist Series, Healing Arts: Rana Awdish, MD & Friends
The Northville Art House will present the second exhibition in its Hometown Artist Series, Healing Arts: Rana Awdish, MD & Friends, from June 3 – 30. Launched in 2021, the series features artwork created by a Northville resident who has made an impact in the community, often in areas other than fine art. This year’s exhibition features the creativity of pulmonary and critical care physician Dr. Rana Awdish.
Rana began painting while incapacitated after a life-threatening illness. Through the creative process she developed a visual language to express her thoughts and emotions. Her work in this exhibition, complemented by visual expressions from photographer and musician Misty Lyn Bergeron and physician Jacqueline Pflaum-Carlson, MD, reveals her experience both as a caregiver as well as a patient.
Healing Arts invites viewers to contemplate the work of each artist as well as discover the ability of art to communicate, inspire, and heal.
As Rana expresses, “We are so excited to share the art that has nourished – and even at times healed – us over the past few difficult years. Though the process of creating the art was very individual, sharing it in communion with you, in this way, is the culmination of a shared dream. We hope that by offering our art for reflection and discussion (and purchase!) that our sense of community and shared experiences grows. And that each of us will gain a renewed perspective on the nature of art and healing.
A Live @ 5 Reception on Friday, June 17, 5 – 8 pm celebrates the exhibition with a gallery talk by Rana Awdish, MD and Jacqueline Pflaum-Carlson, MD, silent auction of selected artwork, and live music by Misty Lyn Bergeron. Tickets are $55 and include a strolling dinner and two drinks at the cash bar. Visit www.northvillearthouse.org/liveat5 for tickets and more information.
