THE END OF NOWHERE: Stories and Photographs by Thomas Pickarski
June 1 – June 30, 2018

The Northville Art House is proud to present THE END OF NOWHERE: Stories and Photographs by Thomas Pickarski. In this narrative and photographic journey, New York artist Thomas Pickarski explores the natural landscape of Iceland, Greenland, and Patagonia, among other fascinating places, through lighthearted storytelling and 32 dramatic black and white photographs.

Thomas Pickarski holds a BFA in Painting and an MFA in Performance Art from Arizona State University. He grew to love unusual landscapes and wide-open, uninhabited spaces when he lived in Arizona. Now living in New York, he is drawn to cooler climates and the desolate nature of arctic deserts. Each summer he travels alone on month-long journeys to Iceland and other places around the world, equipped with a few supplies, a little tent, and a pocket camera. His photographs of icebergs and his travels, a selection of which will be on view, have become the most special to him.

Pickarski observes, “Icebergs possess characteristics of color, shape, line, form, and scale that exist independent from visual references we tend to be familiar with in the natural world. I find them to appear sculpturally magnificent, as if crafted in a way that seems too perfect for this world.”

THE END OF NOWHERE opens with a free public reception on Friday, June 1 from 6 – 9 p.m. The exhibition runs through June 30 during Art House hours, Tuesday-Friday 12-5 p.m. and Saturday 12-4 p.m.

The event is finished.
