The Mission Brigade program promises to provide the MI Freedom Center with some measure of stability during some rather unstable times
Dear MI Freedom Center Supporters,
The Mission Brigade program promises to provide the MI Freedom Center with some measure of stability during some rather unstable times. Even during good times, the MI Freedom Center historically operates with negative cash flow for 10 out of 12 months as we live off of significant donations made annually in December. Many of our December donors have been hit hard by the COVID-19 shutdown. If we are to successfully execute our mission of service, we need to find more stable sources for the income that we need to purchase supplies, compensate our staff, keep government agencies happy, and pay for the technology we need to accomplish all of the above.
Not every one of us can afford to write a $50,000 check like Delta Air Lines or a $25,000 check like the Masco Foundation or a $15,000 check like the Wendell and Doris Rogers Foundation.
Not every one of us can afford to write a $2,500 or $1,000 check like some of our golf outing sponsors do.
Not every one of us can afford to write a $500 or $100 check like many individual supporters have done in the past.
These are the sorts of financial contributions which have sustained our operations since opening our doors in 2011.
Times have changed. Many of these traditional sources of donations are now at risk in the wake of the COVID-19 shutdown. We need to find other ways to generate the financial support needed for our mission. While you or your organization may not be able to afford to write a $50,000 check, perhaps you might be able to afford a donation of $10, $20, or $50 per month in support of our mission to serve those who serve us.
The purpose of the Mission Brigade is to provide a measure of stability in our financial operations without resulting in instability for the finances of our supporters. Many of us have been hit hard financially by the COVID-19 crisis. For many of us, the recent $1,200 stipend from the federal government may have been critical for keeping your household finances solvent. If so, this program is NOT for you. Please take care of your loved ones. If, however, you have weathered the storm well and are able to provide a measure of sustaining support for our mission, our guests would benefit accordingly.
So…what exactly is the Mission Brigade program?
In a nutshell, it is a membership program. Members provide a monthly donation in support of our mission as they are able. In keeping with the patriotic mission of the MI Freedom Center, there are three basic levels of membership: Red, White, and Blue.
Red Level
For $10 per month, you can provide supplies for as many as 5 guests every month.
GIFT: Freedom Center T-Shirt
White Level
For $20 per month, you can provide supplies for as many as 10 guests every month.
GIFT: Freedom Center T-Shirt + Pin
Blue Level
For $50 per month, you can provide supplies for as many as 25 guests every month.
GIFT: Freedom Center T-Shirt + Pin + Challenge Coin
Since opening our doors in 2011, the MI Freedom Centers have served over 700,000 guests! That is an amazing accomplishment. We have over 10,000 people on this email thread plus another 2,500 people on social media. If only 10% of these supporters were to contribute $10/month, we would fill the typical cash flow gap that we experience in most months.
Our goal is 1,000 Mission Brigade members!
While this would be a bit undersized for a real-world military brigade, it would still go a long way towards helping us to fulfill our mission of serving those who serve us!
