The Housing Bureau for Seniors’ Annual Senior Living Week Goes Virtual!

The Housing Bureau for Seniors’ Annual Senior Living Week Goes Virtual!

The annual Senior Living Week educational presentations will be presented virtually this year on the Zoom platform on various days throughout the week of September 26 2020 – October 2, 2020. For those many folks who always attended the Senior Living Week Expo to find information about various housing options and seniors services, there will be Grab & Go Expo Bags handed out curbside at a senior center near you on various days. The events are free but you have to register to attend the presentations and to receive a Grab & Go Expo bag.
The mission of the Housing Bureau for Seniors (HBS), a division of Michigan Medicine’s Community Health Services, is to empower and inform seniors and caregivers in any housing related capacity. They utilize various assessment tools to uncover the root causes of their client’s situation with the ultimate goal of avoiding homelessness. HBS work in collaboration with community partners to ensure all-encompassing care and to reach the main goal of sustainable housing for their clients.
HBS offers several free programs that serve the older adult community. They provide housing counseling, foreclosure prevention, eviction prevention, tax preparation services and educational presentations regarding senior wellness to older adults, caregivers and the community at large. They also work in collaboration with many social service partners and Michigan Medicine.
