The Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum Presents Hand-On Holidays Hackathon – Games!

The Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum brings gaming to life during one of our most popular events, Hands-On Holidays. This year’s event, from December 26, 2018-January 6, 2019, will be filled with performances, new experiences, and a dive into the world of Gaming and Game Development.
Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum is proud to partner with the Michigan Chapter of the International Gaming Developers Association (IGDA) to create experiences, workshops and experts on site to talk about and demonstrate the amazing world of game development, from board games to virtual and augmented reality.
Visitors will have an opportunity to design and build their own game controllers, try out games of all shapes and sizes, and take a look under-the-hood at how games are made. There will be something for all ages.

“We are incredibly excited to work with the IGDA for the first time over the holiday break. Their membership includes professors at U of M, EMU, MSU, as well as internationally recognized game developers that call Michigan home. The Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum provides an ideal venue to showcase the science behind game development.”  John Churchville – Public Programs Manager, Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum

There will also be performances each day by local and nationally recognized artists including Beverly Meyer (The Music Lady), Dan Ripke (Mr. Dan’s Music), Ken Kozora (Electric Music Magic), Randall Moore (The Woodspeak Drum Experience), National Award-Winning Children’s Music group Gemini, and Professor Ray’s Everyday Science – ChemMystery. Performances are open to the public and included with the price of admission. Daily showtimes are listed on the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum event calendar: http://www.aahom.org/events

Museum memberships are a wonderful gift, and they are effective immediately at the time of purchase. Memberships purchased in the month of December enter purchasers into a drawing for two seats on a B-17 Bomber flight at the Thunder Over Michigan Air Show in August: http://www.aahom.org/membership
