The American Legion – Post 282 and Parade Ypsi is happy to
announce the return of the Ypsilanti 4th of July Parade! The 94rd Annual Ypsilanti
Independence Day Parade presented by Ypsilanti Downtown Authority(YDDA), Hinton
Realty and Star Studio will be held on Tuesday July 4th at 11:00.
The parade begins on the corner of Oakwood and West Cross Street and will travel down West
Cross Street and end at Rice Street in Ypsilanti’s Historic Depot Town.
There are over 60 participants in this year’s parade including veterans, marching bands,
newcomers to the parade like singer Azara and ThunderBuck Ram Rock Band. We have
Ypsilanti Community High and Lincoln High School Marching Bands, the FireHouse Museum,
The Harmony Collective, also classics like the Rolling Relics and The Rosies. There will be
awards given to Best Band, Best Variety Group, Best Talent, and Best Presentation.
The Grand Marshall will be Ypsilanti Mayor Nicole Brown, the first Black Woman
elected as mayor for the city of Ypsilanti and also the youngest to ever be
elected. Brown graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 2011 with a
bachelor’s degree in social work and communications in 2011, and a master’s in
social work in 2022. We are excited to have her lead us down the parade route
on the 4th!
Businesses, Groups and Organizations are still welcome to sign up if they are interested in being a part of
this year’s parade, they can sign up by going to our Facebook page- @YpsiParade and filling out an
application.
We are always accepting donations, as this Event is 100 percent run by the effort of volunteers
from the Ypsilanti Community contributions are appreciated . Supporters can donate to the

Lane! – Unicycle and giant bubble magic from Dinnie the Clown! -See fire, police, and more
special vehicles up close with Touch-a-Truck! – Lawn games, water games, face painting, and
more! Brought to you by the Ypsi 4th Parade Committee, the Ypsi Bicentennial Committee,
Ypsilanti Meals on Wheels, the Riverside Arts Center, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of
Washtenaw County

We will have volunteers walking along the parade with buckets to collect donations, to keep this
great community event going. Supporters can also donate to the Parade via our Facebook page.
