Salem Area Historical Society – Upcoming Events: The Annual SAHS Barn Dance; Monthly Meeting & Presentation about “Barns” and 2022 Annual Dinner and Auction

September 2022 Events:

Let the Fall season begin!  “Bow to your partner, bow to your corner….”  The Annual SAHS Barn Dance will be held on Friday, September 9th from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Three Cedars Farm on Six Mile Road just west of Curtis Road.  Members and non-members are welcome.  Admission at the door will be $5.00 per person.  The Square Dance Caller will assist dancers with all levels of experience.  This event is enjoyed by all ages from 6 to 96.  Proceeds to SAHS will be used for the upkeep of the South Salem Stone School and the Dickerson Barn.  Please support our Major Sponsors of the Barn Dance, who are:

  On Wednesday, September 28th, Salem Area Historical Society will be holding its monthly meeting at the South Salem Stone School starting at 7:30 PM.  It will start with a short business meeting that will be followed by a presentation about “Barns” by SAHS member Chuck Bultman.  Ann Arbor architect and barn preservationist Chuck Bultman rescues historic barns destined for the sawdust pile and resurrects them into new, high-end homes and other uses across the country.  In his presentation, Chuck will be highlighting the SAHS Dickerson Barn.  Free Admission for SAHS members and $2 for non-members.

  October 2022 Event:

Tickets are now available for the Salem Area Historical Society’s 2022 Annual Dinner and Auction on Sunday, October 2nd, at 6 PM at Fox Hills Golf & Banquet Center’s Classic Log Cabin Club House.  Tickets to this pre-paid event are $45.00 per SAHS Member and $50 per non-SAHS Member.  Everyone is invited.  The event includes a Multi-Course 2-Entrée Buffet Dinner, a silent auction, a live auction and Fun for all.  Auction items include: Fine art, tickets to area attractions, gift cards, sports memorabilia, historical items, gift baskets and much more.  All proceeds will be used to maintain the South Salem Stone School and the Dickenson Barn.  Tickets can be purchased via the SAHS Website’s “SAHS Dinner/Auction” Webpage (http://www.sahshistory.org) or via an email to Salem_Area_HS@yahoo.com.
