Salem Area Historical Society-presentations on the “South Salem Stone School Oral History Project” and on “Prisons in Plymouth & Northville”

Salem Area Historical Society will be holding its monthly meeting on Wednesday, April 24th, at the South Salem Stone School (7991 North Territorial Road) starting at 7:30 PM.

After the business portion, there will be presentations on the “South Salem Stone School Oral History Project” by Shannon Wilson and on “Prisons in Plymouth & Northville” by Joe Oldenburg. Shannon completed the oral history project in 2019. Historian and archivist Joe Oldenburg will present the story of the only prison in Michigan for “women only” from the 1860s into the 1970s and its successor, Scott Correctional Facility, which finally closed in 2009.
Admission: Free for SAHS Members; $2 for non-SAHS members.
