Prolific Cultural and Arts Leader Returns to Detroit for five days of activities including artistic development classes, midnight production camps, emerging artists’ showcases, a formal benefit gala and a Mother’s Day brunch and concert
John D. Boyd distinguished himself as a formidable cultural and arts leader in the city of Detroit in the 1990’s by founding the Boys and Girls Choirs of Detroit which were replications of the famous Boys and Girls Choirs of Harlem. He also founded a state-wide choir called the Michigan Fine Arts Youth Choir.
Now, 17 years later after launching his children’s careers into the national spotlight, John has returned to Detroit to lead other young artists to a higher plateau from which they will be able to express their talents in a greater way. To this end, he has created The John D. Boyd Artist Development and Production Workshop and is bringing it to Detroit’s historic Hotel Saint Regis and The Masonic Temple. There will be five days of activities including artistic development classes, midnight production camps, emerging artists’ showcases, a formal benefit gala and a Mother’s Day brunch and concert.
