Plymouth Ann Arbor Elks Lodge 325 Jazz and Blues schedule for September through November

West Side Ramblers who provide free entertainment playing Dixieland/Bluegrass Music on the first Thursday of the month from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm at Burger Night at the Plymouth Ann Arbor Elks Lodge 325.  See them on October 4th, November 1st, and December 6th. Limited menu available from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm.  The group is made up of 5 veteran musicians – Morgan Humecky on vocals, lead guitar and banjo; Sherry Humecky on the hammered dulcimer; Brian Newsom on chord melody/rhythm banjo; Kim Dominick on electric bass; Bob Ervin, rhythm guitar and vocals. 

Blues @ The Elks happens on the second Tuesday of the month from 7 pm to 10 pm at the Plymouth Ann Arbor Elks Lodge #325 in partnership with the Detroit Blues Society (www.detroitbluessociety.org). There is a $5 donation at the door and bring your dancing shoes. 

 

On Tuesday, October 9th, we welcome back the Blue Cat Band! This group has been together for 22 years bringing 4 lifetimes of music to the stage with backgrounds in rock, country and folk, and the Blue Cat Band now covers the blues classics from coast to coast and venues all across Michigan. Delivering this great musical chemistry are Al Carmichael on guitar and vocals, Billy Farris on guitar and vocals, Frankie Lee on bass, and Ken Murphy on drums. www.thebluecatband.com.

 

On Tuesday, November 13th, we bring back another great band, The Dale Robertson Band.  This great band brings a great variety of blues to tap your toes and dance to. Joining Dale who plays harmonica and sings are Christophe Leigh on guitar and vocals, Neno Blag on bass, and Jake Segall on drums.

 

Jazz @ The Elks happens on the last Tuesday of the month from 7 pm to 9:30 pm. There is a $10 donation at the door which includes hors d’oeuvres.  Enjoy jazz in a listening room setting close to the entertainers.

 

Tuesday, September 25th the wonderful Terry Lower Trio with Edye Evans Hyde return to the Elks. Edye is an award-winning jazz singer from Grand Rapids and she and Terry have played together for years. Terry plays keyboard and accompanying them are long-time musician friends Ray Tini on bass and Jim Ryan on drums. Good solid jazz, lots of improvisation, and just plain fun! Tuesday, October 30th, first time ever at the Elks, RB3 & SHE! So, who is RB3 & SHE? A powerhouse of talent with the venerable Ron Brooks of Bird of Paradise fame on bass, Ellen Rowe who runs the Jazz Department at UM on keyboard, Ingrid Racine who is an Ann Arbor regular on trumpet, Janell Reichman who is a well-respected sax player and rounding out this almost all girl band is Karen Tomalis on drums who has played with some of the best groups around Detroit. Ron recalls the great all girl bands from the Bird of Paradise and has put together this dynamic group to showcase what the women can do. Thank you, Ron!

 

Tuesday, November 27th, the talented and super fun Ron Kischuk brings the Ron Kischuk Quartet back to the Elks. Come out and enjoy the jazz standards with the Kischuk interpretation and plan on having a lot of fun with this group. Ron will be playing trombone and singing and joining him are Jeff Halsey on bass, Gary Schunk on keyboard, and Dave Taylor on drums.
