October events at Leslie Science & Nature Center

Immersive Guided Forest Therapy with A2 Shinrin-yoku
Mondays: 9/17, 9/24, 10/1. 9:00 am – 11:30am

$45 per session, or $40 per session if you register for all 3!

Guided Forest therapy is based on the Japanese practice of “Forest bathing” meaning an immersive sensory experience of nature. Unlike a nature hike, forest therapy is a slow, relaxing and interactive experience in nature, covering less than half a mile and focusing on deepening our connections with nature through a series of suggested activities. You are welcome to get your hands dirty and sit on the ground! Since this is a 2.5-hour event, participants are strongly encouraged to bring any medications they might need, water and a snack, weather-appropriate clothing, and comfortable walking shoes. A tea ceremony ends each experience.

Register for all three and receive $5 off each session! Registration is required by the Thursday before each session, and participants should plan on arriving 10 minutes prior to the program start time as the program begins promptly at 9:00 am. Register for this event online. For more information on Certified Forest Therapy Guide Cayla Samano, please visit www.a2shinrinyoku.com. This program may be cancelled if the event registration does not fill. In the event of a cancellation, participants will be contacted and will receive a full refund.

It is a great supplement to, or step towards, a full-day preschool program. Registration is by the month, and each session is designed to encourage your little one to ask questions, explore the outdoors, and develop important classroom skills as we hike in Black Pond Woods, meet live animals, make crafts, and run hands-on experiments. This month we will explore what the season has to offer through using our senses, visiting the garden, and learning about springtime weather. Activities are indoors and outdoors – so make sure to dress for the weather!
