Nov and Dec events at the Plymouth Ann Arbor Elks Lodge 325

West Side Ramblers who provide free entertainment playing Acoustic Oldies on the first Thursday of the month from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm at Burger Night at the Plymouth Ann Arbor Elks Lodge 325. Limited menu available from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm. The group is made up of 5 veteran musicians – Morgan Humecky on vocals, lead guitar and banjo; Sherry Humecky on the hammered dulcimer; Brian Newsom on chord melody/rhythm banjo; Kim Dominick on electric bass; Bob Ervin, rhythm guitar and vocals.

Blues @ The Elks happens on the second Tuesday of the month from 7 pm to 10 pm at the Plymouth Ann Arbor Elks Lodge #325 in partnership with the Detroit Blues Society (www.detroitbluessociety.org). There is a $5 donation at the door and bring your dancing shoes.

Tuesday, November 12th, Tosha Owens and the Stable Dudes!! This special blues band is going to shake the house. Pleasing the crowd will be Tosha on vocals, Jimmy Alter on guitar, John Abraham on bass, and Max Bauhof on drums. Come out and dance the night away.

Tuesday, December 10th, Erich Goebel and the Flying Crowbars are back. This energetic group will keep the dance floor hopping. Erich leads with guitar and vocals, Dave Watson on drums, Joe LaBeau on Sax and Chris Rumel on bass. Another great night of music at the Elks.

Big Band @ the Elks. On Sunday afternoon, November 3rd, the 18-piece CSO Big Band led by Craig Strain with vocalists Emma Aboukasm and Chris Scarlett, will be coming to the Lodge, “not your grandma’s big band’. This band draws from the rich heritage of the contemporary big bands of jazz, swing, rhythm, blues with crossover to the pop/R&B genres. Bring your dancing shoes! The band will play from 3 pm to 6 pm and a $10 donation at the door. www.craigstrain.com

Fundraiser for Elk Jim Schommer: On Friday November 8th We will be having a fundraiser sponsored by family and friends for Elk Jim Schommer who has been one of our best volunteers for the Jazz and Blues @ The Elks programs. Jim has stage 4 cancer and is in chemo and not a candidate for surgery. $20 admission includes free Mostaccioli dinner which will be served from 5 pm to 9 pm. Desserts and beverages will be available for purchase. The DJ Kenny Kulpa and the band One Night Stand will be playing throughout the evening. The music and several raffles will be ongoing from 5 pm to 11 pm. Members of the band are lead vocalists Mark Harhold and George Elemont, Danny Bloxsom on Drums, Brian Klotzer on Bass, with Brice Cross and Steve Hucal on guitars.

Jazz @ The Elks happens on the last Tuesday of the month from 7 pm to 9:30 pm. There is a $10 donation at the door which includes hors d’oeuvres. Enjoy jazz in a listening room setting close to the entertainers.

Tuesday, November 25th, a special program put together by a group of highly talented musicians called The Music of Billy Strayhorn, Something to Live For. Come and listen to these special interpretations of the Duke Ellington’s famous composer. Singing will be Emma Aboukasm with Scott Gwinnell on keyboard, Pete Siers on drums, Rob Bickley on bass, and Janelle Reichman on sax and clarinet.
