POSE: Portrait and the Costumed Figure
OCTOBER 4 – 26, 2019
The Northville Art House presents the exhibition POSE: Portrait and the Costumed Figure features portraits and figurative work created in graphite, mixed-media, oil and pastel by twelve female artists. Each artist captures the likeness of an individual through an impressionistic, realistic or other distinct style. Portraits reveal the beauty, virtue, mood and other qualities of the sitter while figurative representations tell unique, narrative stories about the costumed model.
The artists include Nina Ashraf Asmi (Bloomfield Hills), Kathleen Boettcher (Farmington Hills), Candace Brancik (Milford), Jayne Brophy (Livonia), Sara Hadley (Novi), Janet Kondziela (Dearborn Heights), Kathleen McNamee (Grosse Pointe Farms), Lynn Edwards Newman (Farmington Hills), Kathleen W. O’Connell (Dearborn), Susan Perrish (Livonia), Roselyn Rhodes (Wolverine Lake) and Mary Step (Novi).
This free exhibition opens with a reception October 4 from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm and runs through October 26 during regular gallery hours Tue-Fri 12 – 5 pm and Sat 12 – 4 pm. Visit www.northvillearthouse.org for more information.
