Light The Night Ann Arbor Walk – Leukemia & Lymphoma Society will bring light into the darkness of cancer at Ann Arbor’s Riverside Park
Event Overview: Light The Night is an inspirational community event, raising awareness about blood cancer and raising funds for groundbreaking research and treatment options. The light and warmth generated by participants delivers hope in time of despair, community in place of loneliness and life-saving research & support for cancer patients and their families.
On Saturday, September 21, participants will walk along a one-mile route from Riverside Park around Ann Arbor. Those who raise $100 or more are called “Champions for Cures,” and carry illuminated lanterns—white for survivors, red for supporters and gold in memory of loved ones lost. A dedicated remembrance pavilion provides an opportunity to display a name or message, honoring or commemorating a family member or friend with cancer. The opening ceremony will honor survivors, and will feature a presentation by the family of Honored Hero Lena, a 2 year old survivor of blood cancer. All are welcome to join teams, walk individually, or volunteer during the event. Festivities are centered in Riverside Park starting at 6 p.m.
Who: Over 700 people from Ann Arbor and the surrounding area are expected to attend Ann Arbor Light The Night, including patients, families, supporters, volunteers, and representatives from sponsors, including presenting sponsor, University of Michigan Rogel Cancer Center.
