Mother’s Day Wildflower Hike
Sunday, May 12, 2019 – 1:00pm to 2:30pm
Ages: All Ages (Youth must be accompanied by an adult)
$5 per person, Mothers are free!
Treat the mothers and mother figures in your life to a guided wildflower hike through Black Pond Woods and the LSNC grounds, or take the hike yourself in their honor! We’ll find lovely blooms popping up through the grass or sprouting on the forest floor. Enjoy a short presentation on local wildflowers and then get outside to see what is blooming here at LSNC. During the presentation and hike, participants will learn basic plant identification skills using field guides as well as some of the fascinating folklore surrounding some of these plants. Enjoy a “tea time” of ice-cold lemonade or iced tea and granola bars in the garden before you head home. We encourage participants to make a day of your trip by bringing a picnic lunch and enjoying Critter House Open Hours between 10am and 1pm before the program. Space is limited. Pre-registration is required by Wednesday, May 8th. Register for this event online, or call 734-997-1553.

Each session includes indoor and outdoor activities – so make sure to dress for the weather!
Nature Storytime will take place on the following days:
Have a 4-5 year old that is ready to try a drop-off program? Take a look at our Nature Tykes Preschool Program that also runs on Wednesday mornings.
Nature Tykes Preschool Program
Wednesdays 9:45 – 11:15 am, Ages 4-5 without caregiver.
5/1, 5/8, 5/15, 5/22 Habitats
Our Nature Tykes Preschool Program gives your 4-5 year old the opportunity to learn and grow independently in this 1.5 hour drop-off program. It is a great supplement to, or step towards, a full-day preschool program. Registration is by the month, and each session is designed to encourage your little one to ask questions, explore the outdoors, and develop important classroom skills as we hike in Black Pond Woods, meet live animals, make crafts, and run hands-on experiments. This month we will explore habitats to see what animals need to be able to survive. Activities are indoors and outdoors – so make sure to dress for the weather!
Have a 1-3 year old that is not quite old enough to join Nature Tykes? Take a look at our Nature Storytime program that also runs on Wednesday mornings.
