Find Original Art and Gifts to Love at Northville’s Small Works Exhibition
The SMALL WORKS: Juried All-Media Exhibition showcases 150 works by 75 national artists from November 12 to December 17 at the Northville Art House, 215 W. Cady in Northville. Limited to 16 inches in any direction, the artwork ranges from two-dimensional collage, paintings, photography, and traditional prints to three-dimensional ceramics, fused glass, stoneware, and metalwork. The exhibition is a great opportunity for visitors to find original art and gifts to love for the holidays!
We invite people of all ages to view the artwork and meet the participating artists at a free reception on Saturday, November 12, 5 – 8 pm. Children and parents who attend will enjoy the one-of-a-kind “Scrapscape” collages of Lansing artist, Steph Joy Hogan, which are inspired by the unbridled imaginations of children, and created with layers of skyscapes, imaginary universes, and the whimsical creatures that inhabit them. Nature lovers will be attracted to the landscape paintings of Farmington Hills plein-air painter Richard Onica that capture and reflect the colors and light of the outdoors or the functional vessels of Ann Arbor ceramicist Susan Mankowski that are influenced by flowing rivers and water. Photographers may discover they love the striking abstract imagery of artist Sylvia Bandyke or the ‘layering, texturing, and digital tomfoolery’ of photographer Bill Schahfer, both of Royal Oak.
Whether looking for art to hang in the home office or an imaginative gift for a friend, there are treasures for everyone in the Small Works Juried All-Media Exhibition,” says Creative Director Ryan Kaltenbach.
