Celebrate science, technology, art and imagination with TechTwilight at the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum

ANN ARBOR HANDS-ON MUSEUM PRESENTS
TechTwilight 2019
Science * Technology * Art * Imagination

The Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum’s signature event TechTwilight is back as a renewed, re-imagined, and expanded three-day event. Built upon a decade of STEM inspiration, this year’s 10 year-anniversary welcomes an interactive arts extravaganza, TechTwilight will celebrate science, technology, art, and imagination in an unexpected and unconventional experience.
“I’ve imagined this event for years, the celebration of the intersection of art and science. The ability to dance with lasers, become immersed in glaciers, or experience a tactile interactive sculpture is a unique opportunity we will bring to life for our community. ” – says Mel Drumm, President and CEO of the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum.
The Museum will welcome an exciting line up of collaborators for TechTwilight. Come and be challenged by A World Without Ice, a multimedia exhibit focusing on the Earth’s changing climate by Michael Gould, Stephen Rush, and Marion Trankle in collaboration with climate scientist Henry Pollack. Stand in awe of Gene Foulk and Casey Dixon’s Invasive Species, a larger-than-life LED tree of twisted and sinuous reflective metal, Examine the interplay of art and technology while you Dance With Lasers in Mike Gould’s exhibit that focuses on the interaction between audience and light, and explore Equilibrium by Detroit-based multimedia artist Simon Alexander-Adams, an interactive video work inspired by emergent patterns found in nature. The Museum also welcomes back Professor Sean Ahlquist and his sensory-responsive, inclusive environment for individuals with autism spectrum disorder, as well as Ken Kozora, who will be creating a rhythmic soundscape for the “Dances With Lasers” and “Equilibrium” installations.
Friday, November 8: Bring your friends and enjoy an evening with our Adults-Only Night from 6-8:30 pm. Meet artists and exhibitors, enjoy food, beer, and wine, and make your own alcohol tile to take home with you!
Saturday, November 9: The Museum will be open from 12-2 for members only, and 2-8 pm for families with TechTwilight: Family Day. Visitors will interact with artists, as well as student groups displaying their creativity and participate in hands-on family activities.
TechTwilight 2019 promises to be an event-to-remember through its celebration of the intersection of science, technology, art, and imagination. Visitors of all ages will be enchanted by and challenged through their interactions with the work of each artist and exhibitor.
