West Side Ramblers who provide free entertainment playing Dixieland/Bluegrass Music on the first Thursday of the month from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm at Burger Night at the Plymouth Ann Arbor Elks Lodge 325. Next appearance is August 2nd.Limited menu available from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm. The group is made up of 5 veteran musicians – Morgan Humecky on vocals, lead guitar and banjo; Sherry Humecky on the hammered dulcimer; Brian Newsom on chord melody/rhythm banjo; Kim Dominick on electric bass; Bob Ervin, rhythm guitar and vocals.
Blues @ The Elks happens on the second Tuesday of the month from 7 pm to 10 pm at the Plymouth Ann Arbor Elks Lodge #325 in partnership with the Detroit Blues Society (www.detroitbluessociety.org). There is a $5 donation at the door and bring your dancing shoes.
Tuesday, August 14th, The Curtis Sumter Project returns to the Elks. This band is a high energy Chicago style Blues Band with a blend of Motown. A great night to meet up with your friends and party on. Curtis Sumter on drums and vocals, John Watkins on guitar and vocals, Carl Caballero on harmonica and vocals, James Cloyd on bass and vocals, Jim Finch on guitar.
Jazz @ The Elks happens on the last Tuesday of the month from 7 pm to 9:30 pm. There is a $10 donation at the door which includes hors d’oeuvres. Enjoy jazz in a listening room setting close to the entertainers.
Tuesday, August 28th, During the year the Elks is proud to support the area’s Rising Stars, youth who show a lot of performance promise. This month we are presenting Sean Dobbins Trio with Rising Star Jibreel Johnson. The trio consists of outstanding young musicians Sean Dobbins on drums, Corey Kendrick on keyboard, and Rob Bickley on bass. Trumpeter Jibreel Johnson goes to Huron High School in Ann Arbor and has been playing since he was 5 years old. He has already played at some of the best jazz venues in Detroit and Ann Arbor and we are so pleased to have him entertain us with his accomplished trumpet playing. The show will be a tribute to Clifford Brown, Dizzy Gillespie, and Lee Morgan.
