On Both Fri and Sat nights at 6pm til Midnight.

Astronomy at the Beach is a FREE two-night annual event bringing together amateur and professional astronomers and science educators to share our love of space and astronomy with the public. This year’s theme is the Apollo 11 50th anniversary.

On both Friday and Saturday nights, from 6:00 PM until midnight, dozens of telescopes will dazzle your eyes with views of the Moon, Jupiter, Saturn, star clusters, nebulas, and maybe even a galaxy or two!

Inside the “Big Tent,” expand your mind with presentations and hands-on demos about many aspects of science and popular astronomy.

Members from southeastern Michigan astronomy clubs and societies will be at tables, and would LOVE to talk with you about astronomy and space science; several clubs host monthly telescope viewing nights, and several members perform public outreach and will come to your location with telescopes and presentations!

We are at Kent Lake Beach in the Island Lake State Recreation area, near Brighton again this year. Simply take Exit 151 off of I-96. Go south on Kensington Road, then make a left at the Island Lake signs. (Google Maps calls the site “Island Lake Picnic Grounds”.)

The event is finished.
