Join your Ann Arbor Symphony for the Mozart Birthday Bash on January 27, 8 pm, at the Michigan Theater. Ann Arbor Symphony’s Principal clarinet, Chad Burrow performs Mozart’s famous clarinet concerto. Join us in the celebration with great music from Mozart including his first and his final symphonies. And, at the end of the night, leave with a sweet memories and a Mozart chocolate kugel.
A brilliant musician and composer, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born on January 27, 1756. His first symphony was created when he was just eight years old. His Symphony No. 41, called the “Jupiter,” was his final symphony, written when he was just 32.
Chad Burrow is the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra’s principal clarinet. His performances have taken him throughout the United States as well as internationally, where he is described as having a “brilliant technique tonal beauty mixed with an expressive ferocity” by the European Press. He is the former principal clarinetist of the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, the New Haven Symphony, Quartz Mountain Music Festival and the Arizona Musicfest Orchestra. In the States he has played at such renowned theaters such as Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall, and his international concerts have taken him to Austria, Denmark, Taiwan, Strasbourg, and Taipei.

His Bachelor of Music is from Northwestern University and he holds a Master of Music degree from Yale. He is the clarinetist for Duo Clarion and Trio Solari, is the co-artistic director for the bright music Society of Oklahoma, and is a faculty member of the clarinet department at the University of Michigan where he teaches clarinet, chamber music, and is the director for the Michigan Chamber Players.

Big Bend is a commissioned piece Katie Fellman created for your Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra. Fellman is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Musical Arts in Composition at the University of Michigan School of Music, Theater & Dance.
