Those in addiction recovery face many challenges as they re-construct their lives and create a life-long recovery focus. This can be especially challenging for college students who are often living in campus communities where alcohol and other drug use is normative, public, and excessive which is the opposite of recovery friendly environments. Research evidence indicates that sober living communities with on-going peer-to-peer recovery support offer important supports that are needed for students to thrive. A collegiate recovery program (CRP) is a College or University-provided, supportiveenvironment within the campus culture that reinforces the decision to engage in alifestyle of recovery from substance use. CRPs are designed to provide an educational opportunity alongside recovery support to ensure that students do not have to sacrifice one for the other.Join us for an informative, online Family Forum with panelists from Collegiate Recovery Programs and students in active recovery at Central Michigan University, Eastern Michigan University, Michigan State University, University of Michigan and Washtenaw Community College. Student panelists in recovery themselves will share their perspectives about their CRPs and their recovery journeys while in college and will also respond to questions from participants.

This family forum is a joint presentation by the Washtenaw County Families Against Narcotics, Washtenaw Community College (WCC) Office of Student Organizations, WCC’s Collegiate Recovery Program, and the Michigan Higher Education Network.
