2023 Rising Star Vocal Jazz Competition at Aretha’s Jazz Café and Father’s Day Brunch, are fundraisers for the Michigan Jazz Festival

2023 Rising Star Vocal Jazz Competition at Aretha’s Jazz Café, 350 Madison Street, Detroit MI, on May 21st at 7 pm. Five finalists will compete before a live audience for the chance to open for Ramona Collins at the 2023 Michigan Jazz Festival. The finalists are Melody Balos, Taylor Sims, Christopher Kendall, Kait Wiegand, and Aniya Gray. Ramona will be the host and the vocalists will be accompanied by the Scott Gwinnell Trio with Scott on piano, Takashi Iio on bass and Jeff Trudell on drums. Food and drinks will be available for purchase during the concert.  Cabaret seating tickets are $30 and are available at www.Eventbrite.com. This is a fundraising event for the Michigan Jazz Festival.


Father’s Day Brunch, a fundraiser for the Michigan Jazz Festival, will be held on Sunday, June 18 th at the VisTaTech Center at Schoolcraft College at 18600 Haggerty Rd, Livonia MI 48152. The Gourmet Brunch Buffet will be served from Noon to 1pm and will be provided by the fabulous Schoolcraft Culinary Arts program. The concert is from Noon to 2:30 pm and features vocalist Barbara Ware with the Cliff Monear Trio and special guest Dave Tatrow. Tickets are $45 and must be purchased in advance by June 9 th.
